Greenwich Academics: New Leaders, Same Dedication
Greenwich Academics is a nonprofit organization that strives to make a significant difference in our community by offering free tutoring services to local students. The organization was founded on the belief that every child should have access to academic support. Oftentimes, students are afraid to ask for help, so we created an environment in which this fear doesn’t exist. By connecting students in need of academic assistance with their peers, fellow high school students, Greenwich Academics fosters a supportive community where learning and growth can thrive.
Greenwich Academics’ mission is to help students in need. We achieve this through use of the knowledge of high school students. This allows us to provide a personalized experience to each and every tutee. This peer-to-peer approach not only enhances the learning experience for students in need of educational support, but also provides the high school tutors with valuable leadership and communication skills.
This past summer, Greenwich Academics underwent a changing of the guard, as the organization’s founders, Harrison Wolfe and Thomas Milititsky, left to continue their academic journeys at prestigious universities. Now, we are led by five exceptional seniors who take over the founders’ jobs: Theo Rose, Rohan Mittal, Michael Gilbride, Michael Nogaki, and Sofia Klingbeil.
Director Theo Rose has greatly contributed to the Greenwich Public Schools academic community. His volunteership at elementary schools across the district give him experience in educating and working with younger students that translates well to his role at Greenwich Academics. As Director, our president, he will oversee the tutoring program, meaning he is in charge how tutors are allocated and he ensures that every student receives the education they deserve.
Rohan Mittal, Project Manager, uses his passion for computer programming for his role in the organization. He manages and updates the website, maintaining a fresh image for prospective students or tutors. He is also involved in several past tutoring projects, such as the Nigerian Summer Project from summer 2023.
Michael Gilbride has leadership experience from other nonprofit organizations that have provided him with the knowledge and lessons to succeed as Treasurer of Greenwich Academics. He is responsible for handling donations from the community and allocation of resources.
Michael Nogaki, Event Manager, uses his volunteer experience to better the organization. He organizes several outside volunteer opportunities for organization members. Additionally, as one of our lead tutors, Michael connects with students and tutors alike to provide a flourishing educational experience for everyone involved in Greenwich Academics.
Sofia Klingbeil combines her passion for education and her wonderful ability to produce engaging content in her role as Social Media Manager. Without her advertising, many top tutors would not be a part of the organization today. Her management of several different social media pages is what keeps business alive.
As Greenwich Academics continues to grow, the organization remains committed to expanding its reach and bettering its programs to better serve the community. By providing free tutoring, Greenwich Academics is not only helping local children achieve academic success but is also inspiring the next generation of leaders!
